Chiropractic care for athletes in Vilanova

Chiropractic care for people who train in Vilanova i la Geltrú. We assess the mobility of your spine and joints and how you spread your training load, so you can keep moving comfortably.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • You train several times a week and your body feels loaded
  • You are back in training after an injury already assessed by your doctor or physio
  • One side feels stiffer than the other when running, swimming or turning
  • You are losing range of movement in your back, hips or shoulders
  • You are preparing for a race or a season and want your spine checked

Our approach

When you train often, the body tends to compensate: if one area of the spine or a joint moves less, others take on more load. Sports chiropractic focuses on that mechanical side. Dimitri assesses the mobility of your spine, pelvis and the joints involved in your sport and uses specific adjustments to bring movement back to stiff areas. Runners, cyclists, swimmers, footballers and tennis players from Vilanova and the Garraf come to Tantae to look after their mobility. If you have a recent injury, your doctor or physiotherapist should assess it first; chiropractic care does not replace that.

What we look at in practice

Training load

When the same area keeps getting overloaded, there is often a compensating movement pattern behind it. Dimitri assesses the spine and pelvis to see how the effort is being shared. Recent muscle tears or injuries should first be assessed by your doctor or physiotherapist.

Joint mobility

After an injury it is common for a joint to lose some mobility and for the body to compensate. The chiropractic adjustment aims to bring movement back to joints that have become stiff, once the injury has been assessed by the appropriate medical professional.

Regular care for athletes

Many people who train regularly include chiropractic check-ups in their routine to look after the mobility of their spine. We adapt the frequency to your sport and your training and competition calendar.

How we work

01
Initial assessment

At your first visit Dimitri assesses your spine, posture and mobility, explains what he has found and, if chiropractic care is right for you, suggests a care plan.

02
First sessions

The first sessions focus on bringing movement back to stiff areas. Visits are closer together at the start and are then spaced out.

03
Stabilisation

We review with you how your spine is responding and adjust the plan. Every case is different, so we do not set a fixed number of sessions.

04
Maintenance

If you wish, regular check-ups to look after the mobility of your spine, much like visiting the dentist. You decide how far you want to go.

Frequently asked questions
